The Big Ambitions of a Very Small Cat

Meet Mochi, He is 90% fluff, 10% confusion, and 100% determined to conquer his environment, even if his legs are still a little too short for the job.

The day began with a challenge. In the middle of the room stood the Pink Beast a fuzzy unicorn rocker. To a human, it was cute decor to Mochi, it was a mountain to be claimed. After a scramble involving all his claws, he managed to summit the creature. He sat atop the pink saddle, tilting his head with a look that said, I have conquered the beast. Now… does anyone know how to get down?

Having survived the unicorn, Mochi sought higher ground. He scaled the vertical face of the grey sofa, pulling himself up to the very edge. From this dizzying height , he gazed down at the carpet below. The world looked different from up here. He felt like the king of the jungle, patrolling his territory from the high cliffs, ready to pounce on any dust bunny that dared to move.

Adventures are exhausting and, frankly, a little scary. Mochi realized he didn’t have to face the world alone. He found his favorite human, the one with the warm beige sweater. He placed his tiny paws on the giant’s hand, his wide eyes looking up with pure trust. It was a moment of connection a silent agreement that the giant would provide food and chin scratches, and in return, Mochi would allow them to be in his presence.

The energy reserves of a kitten are intense but short lived. The conquering of beasts, the scaling of cliffs, and the negotiating of alliances took their toll. Mochi found the softest white quilt in the house. His legs gave out. He didn’t just lie down, he melted. With his paws curled and eyes shut tight, the very small cat drifted off to dream of catching the red laser dot that always got away.
